How to Replace the Receiver (Speaker) on Your Hearing Aid?

Why should I replace my receiver and how do I do it?

Why might I need to replace the receiver on my hearing aid?

There are two main reasons to replace your hearing aid receiver:

  • Size Adjustment: If you need a different-sized receiver, shorter or longer, you can exchange it by contacting our Customer Support Team during our hours of operation, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm CST, at 833-367-HEAR (4327) or email support@hearsoundwave.com for assistance.
  • Age of Receiver: If your receiver is approximately 6 months or one year old, it's a good idea to consider replacing it for optimal performance.

How do I replace the old receiver on my hearing aid with a new receiver?

Follow these steps for replacing your hearing aid receiver:

  • Remove the receiver: Hold the hearing aid securely between your thumb and forefinger, then grip the receiver wire near the hearing aid socket (where it plugs in). Firmly pull the receiver away from the hearing aid to disconnect it.
  • Secure Placement: Carefully insert the new receiver into your Sontro Self-Fitting OTC Hearing Aid. Match the red dot at the top of the receiver wire with the top of the teardrop-shaped socket on the hearing aid. It should securely "snap" into place in the receiver wire socket of the new hearing aid.

What's important to remember during this process?

To avoid confusion and ensure proper functionality:

  • Consider labeling your hearing aids as left and right before removing the receivers, as it can be challenging to identify them once the receivers are removed.
  • Using the correct receiver on the right hearing aid (and vice versa) is crucial, as hearing aids are programmed for specific sides.
